• "Challenge" is a method started in the early days of the group to stimulate interest in abstract painting. Responding to it is not a requirement to attend the meeting. All art work is welcome and will be critiqued or enjoyed as the artist wishes. In fact, if you have nothing to show, you can always appreciate and share in the discussion.  

• The July Challenge:  Interpret the word DANCING and the movement involved in that activity. (Anything from the waltz to modern RAP.)

At the June meeting, members enjoyed a discussion on the challenge, THE CITY.

MASTER'S JEWELS : Hugh Beykirch shared a method of designing an abstract painting which he learned from Joan Cawthorn. He arranged a variety of rectangular pieces of heavy paper on a surface in a pleasing design, drew around them creating the basis for his abstract composition. Both positive and negative areas can be achieved in this way.

Barb Reeves will present a Master's Jewel in July.
